The Furniture Design Program at UALR strives to introduce students to the many aspects of furniture design and making. Introductory classes are centered around techniques associated with wood working and hand-skills, however, including materials such as metal, concrete and found objects is always encouraged. The second and third class introduces students to cabinet and chair constructions after which students can enroll in classes such as Alternative Materials, Plywood & Composites and Small Objects & Lighting.

Graduates of the program come out possessing knowledge on how to make furniture as well as the field of contemporary furniture. In addition to the Bachelors (BA) degree track (BFA coming soon) UALR Furniture also offers  their courses  to  non-degree seeking students looking to either be introduced to the wonderful world of hand-made furniture, or expand their knowledge of technique, process and design.
